Modern Warfare 2

When it comes to very fast action based first person shooters, I’m really not that great at them. However, Modern Warfare 2 implemented a very nice feature that helped with my reduced reaction speed as I’ve grown older. I don’t know what the term for it is, if there was one, but upon looking down the barrel of your gun it would auto center on the nearest target (within a certain radius so you still had to be within range).

This really helped me to enjoy a great game even more as I probably would have died a heck of a lot more than I did. The story, graphics and action was very well done and lead to one of my most memorable experiences of a game of this genre. Aside from a quick side mission where you went undercover into a terrorist cell and partook in the slaughter of hundreds of civilians then had an abrupt ending to the mission (not stating what to avoid spoiling it).

Only a few gripes, the game really didn’t seem that long. I think it could have used a few more missions at least. Also seemed like there were a crap load of gun types and eventually had to replace your favorites for something you didn’t care as much for. But that was rare and was nice to have alternatives whereas some missions/areas was lack of choices. The random areas that had ammo drops were nice too.

The game ending was a let down to me, after all that hectic mostly non-stop shooting, it ends in a somewhat involved but mostly slow cutscene and dialog. I’d probably give the game a 8 out of 10 though, with some replayability to test your limits and try different tactics (at least until the ending).
